Das Haus sowie die Lage sind wunderschön.
Für uns mit 2 Familien war es perfekt aufgeteilt. Das Geschirr war für 9 Personen etwas knapp, hat aber gereicht.
Die Vermieter waren sehr nett, auch wenn sich die Kommunikation manchmal als etwas schwierig darstellte. ( Wir kein Italienisch, sie kein Englisch) aber Google Übersetzer hat uns einige Lacher gebracht. Auch die angebauten Tomaten, welche wir bekommen haben waren sehr lecker.
Wir waren sehr froh über den Pool. Von hier hatte man eine wunderschöne Aussicht und er war groß genug um ein paar Bahnen zu schwimmen.
Wir waren in einer wirklich sehr heißen Woche dort und hätten uns gewünscht es wäre entweder eine Klimaanlage oder Mückennetze vorhanden gewesen. Wir mussten die Nacht über die Fenster öffnen um schlafen zu können, ohne wäre es einfach nicht auszuhalten. Leider war das
eine Einladung für viele viele Mücken und wir wurden sehr zerstochen. Das hat leider die sonst hervorragende Urlaubsstimmung getrübt. Vielleicht sollte hier über eine Nachrüstung nachgedacht werden.
Die Gegend rund um Volterra ist wunderschön und es lohnt sich mehrere Weingüter anzuführen.

It was perfectly divided for us with 2 families. The dishes were a bit scarce for 9 people, but were enough.
The landlords were very nice, even if communication was sometimes a bit difficult. (We didn't speak Italian, they didn't speak English) but Google translator gave us a few laughs. The tomatoes we were given were also very tasty.
We were very happy about the pool. It had a beautiful view and was big enough to swim a few laps.
We were there during a really hot week and wished there had been either air conditioning or mosquito nets. We had to open the windows all night to sleep, it would have been unbearable without. Unfortunately this was an invitation for lots of mosquitoes and we were bitten. Unfortunately, this spoiled the otherwise excellent vacation atmosphere. Perhaps we should think about upgrading here.
The area around Volterra is beautiful and there are several wineries worth visiting.
Beautiful surroundings, and beautiful buildings. The apartments are nicely split, suitable for a group of families.
We had problems with the warm water in the bathrooms. It was impossible to set a constant temperature, the water was continously changing between cold and really hot. The explanation and auggestions of the owner (long pipes, it takes until warm water arrives) did not explain and solve the problem. In reality hte boiler is switching on and off all the time, because the water flow is to low (due to the long pipes). I understand it is not so easy to solve, but not so nice given the rental price.
Additionally all the taps are tipping in the bathrooms.
An other issue was with the dishwashers: some did not work.
The kitchen equipment was in general ok, however the pots and teflon pans were quite used and scratched.
It was also strange to realize, that no detergent nor toilet paper was provided, only for the first day. This is cheap money comparwd to the rental price, did not feel too nice. Also the fact that running the washing machine costs 6€/wash, which should be in the price in my opinion.
The pool was really nice, after a few days we requested a cleaning, which was than properly done.
The owner came to the villa every day, which was really helpful, she has tried to solve all our requests.
The villa buildings were actually better than shown on the pictures. It was difficult to understand in advance how the apartments are arranged.
Das Haus liegt idyllisch umgeben von Wein- und Olivenbäumen. Das Haus und der große Garten bieten genügend Platz für Erholung und beispielsweise gemeinsame Grillabende. Hervorzuheben ist der super schöne, große und gepflegte Pool, der zum Schwimmen und Sonnen einlädt. Die Gastgeber sind sehr freundlich, kommen täglich vorbei und kümmern sich um Garten und Pool. Verwöhnt wurden wir auch durch einen leckeren, selbstgebackenen Kuchen zum 15. August.
Die Einrichtung ist in die Jahre gekommen, was aber auch nicht störend ist, einzig die Sanitäranlagen sollten saniert werden.
Die Küche ist gut ausgestattet. Toaster, Kaffeemaschine, Microwelle, Spülmaschine ... vorhanden.
Die funktionierende Waschmaschine ist im Garten.
Die Gastgeber sprechen nur Italienisch.

The house and the large garden offer plenty of space for relaxation and barbecues, for example. The super beautiful, large and well-maintained pool, which invites you to swim and sunbathe, deserves special mention. The hosts are very friendly, come by every day and look after the garden and pool. We were also spoiled by a delicious homemade cake on August 15th.
The furnishings are getting on in years, but this is not a problem, only the sanitary facilities should be renovated.
The kitchen is well equipped. Toaster, coffee machine, microwave, dishwasher ... available.
The working washing machine is in the garden.
The hosts only speak Italian.
Being in Tuscany virtually every year since 15 years, we have seen a lot of different houses. Mulino Al Suono was really a great pick which offered great value for money. The 900 year old former mill was indeed very special and could certainly tell great stories if the walls could speak... and totally suitable for our setup with 10 kids and 10 adults. We have really enjoyed the venue. The pool is close to the house so we could easily survey the kids, and the fence was helpful to make sure no kid is dropping in by incident, The venue felt even like a small village. Kitchen equipment could have been more elaborate and little below average compared to other houses, so if you are requiring e.g. espresso coffee maker, better bring your own. Anna, who was managing the house, was really helpful and answered promptly all our requests. Many thanks!
We had a wonderful time. This spacious property has everything you need. Plenty of space, stunning views, extremely welcoming pool surrounded by a colourful Tuscan garden. San Vivaldo is a pretty hamlet with a great traditional well priced restaurant. Great location to visit Pisa, Florence and our favourite, San Gimignano. The hosts were amazing and nothing was a problem. Highly recommended
