Descriptif de la Propriété
Situated in one of the most idyllic part of Tuscany and hidden among secular holm-oaks, pines, vineyards, olive groves, ponds and creeks, Palazzo Sarteano, an historical farm of 220 hectars, has that special charm of Etruscan sites.
Distances:
The farm is located close to Sarteano (6 Km), to Chianciano (4 Km), famous for their thermal waters, and to Chiusi (about 10 km, train station), rich in fascinating archaeological sites and near the border line between Umbria and Tuscany. This area offers not only healthy vacations and a variety of outdoor activities, but is also an interesting departure point for learning about culture and traditions of this region.
The property is only 4 Km from the Highway A1, making it a centre for major sightseeing. Florence, Perugia and Assisi are all very accessible, Gubbio and Orvieto less than one hour drive away. Rome can be reached both by train from Chiusi, or with two hours drive.

Bus stop at 1 km and a half on top of the road that leads to the Farm, takes to Chiusi or Chianciano.
The Valdichiana is an excellent holiday base, opening up both the Siena region and the Umbria region around Lake Trasimeno. This was one of the most important domains of Etruscans; the town of Chiusi was a point of exchange before Rome was founded. Any nook of the countryside can hide a treasure: a little church with an unknown artistic work or an ancient memory of a battle. The nature, makes this zone very various and unique.

There are 7 different independent accommodation on the Farm. Six of them are within walking distance, which makes it the perfect place to be rented by a group (wedding, small meeting etc..) and still have a big privacy.

At the end of an oak-lined drive stands the large medieval residence with its elegant loggia and bell tower, its chapel painted with frescoes from the 16th century and its lovely inner courtyard.

Wi-Fi internet connection available (free of charge) only in the pool's area and in the Castle, there is also an internet point with 2 computers available (free of charge) in the reception.

Chef service including groceries and cooking for a complete typical Tuscan menu and wine.
Heating is available only in the unit BERNARDINO (to be paid on consumption), for the other units, except for Sant'Elena (no fireplace!), the owners can provide wood for the fireplaces if needed (free of charge).

Very, very simple and polished. Should be urgently renovated!
Pool is very big - but everything around extremely neglected.

This is a great property in the Tuscan countryside--perfect for families who want a very quiet, relaxing holiday. The units on the property are a little spread out, which is nice if you don't have them all rented. It makes it more comfortable as noise doesn't travel between the two. The bigger houses have great big outdoor spaces to use as well, which is nice. The wine they grow as well is FANTASTIC and it's super affordable! Definitely sign up for a wine tasting and even buy a case for while your'e there. The only things I would warn about are: 1) Ensure you have a vehicle - taxis are very expensive and not easy to book. 2) Be aware if you do book a cooking class with a larger group, not all will get to participate, it's more a demo. The dinner is delicious though! 3) The wifi doesn't reach beyond the pool area and even there, it's very spotty. This is not necessarily a bad thing though if you want to disconnect. We kind of found it nice. 4) I don't recommend you plan an event here though. I planned a birthday dinner here and it was a bigger event and it felt like the details were very last minute and took a lot of emails with questions and made me feel a bit like a burden as well. Again though, not an issue if you want to stay here! Just not the spot for your wedding. :) Book away!

Freundlicher Empfang und Einführung in die Gesamtanlage im Umfeld des ehemaligen Schlösschens. Alles sehr gepflegt und sauber (auch die Poolanlage !). Wir haben den Familienaufenthalt mit insgesamt 10 Personen (Großeltern, Eltern, Enkel) sehr genossen, gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis, jederzeit gerne wieder !

Nice 'rustic' apartment to the side of the palazzo. Great location - within easy reach of Lake Trasimeno, Montepulciano, Cortona, Arezzo, Florence... Lots to see and do in the local area and easy to find from the A1. The swimming pool is lovely and big, and the grounds are lovely with gorgeous views.
Kitchen facilities are basic but perfectly useable, the living room is nice and big, the two bedrooms comfortable, and there is a third walk-through bedroom/living room which we used as a playroom for the kids.

The Castle
This was the MOST WONDERFUL Italian experience we've ever had. Berenice, the owner, is simply the best!! We had 50 people staying at all the different villas for a fantastic photography workshop, and everyone left saying it was the best travel experience of their lives. I highly recommend Palazzo Sarteano to anyone, whether just to rent the castle only, or for a larger event with more rooms. I will be holding events regularly here in the future because of my great experience here.

We loved staying at the Palazzo, our accommodation was lovely itself but having the run of the grounds was an added bonus. To make it perfect, it would have been great to have some outside lighting - it was hard to see if meat was done on the barbeque in the dark! Also the internet mentioned as being available by the pool was very flaky but that may have been due to a big storm. Having a TV/DVD player would have helped a lot with my elderly mother in the evenings as well. But these are small things. We had a fabulous time, Carmen and Ionel (spelling?) were lovely and we would love to come again!

Huis was prachtig, ligging mooi, nabij supermarkt, nabij restaurants, nabij uitvalswegen. Enige nadeel waren toch redelijk oncomfortabel 2 persoonsbed. (Matras lag aan ene kant wel 5 cm hoger als aan andere kant)

Très belle propriété, au milieu d'un superbe paysage toscan. Nous avons loué Bernardo : Prestations simples, électro-ménager un peu rudimentaire, mais tout le reste était parfait. Nous avons passé un très bon séjour.
