Descriptif de la Propriété

Antique villa du XVIII ème siècle restructurée en sauvegardant le charme et l’atmosphère de l’architecture d’origine et des anciens matériaux comme les briques de terre cuite et les poutres apparentes. La propriété se trouve à la périphérie de Sienne, à 4km du centre de la ville. La position est agréable et tranquille au cœur d’une propriété de 17ha avec production d’huile d’olive, aux confins entre Sienne et la région du Chianti Classico. La villa, attenante à une dépendance, est divisée en 2 appartements indépendants mais (possibilité de le relier de l’intérieur par un bel escalier de pierre). L’ameublement est confortable de style rustique avec de nombreuses pièces authentiques en parfaite harmonie avec le cadre. Devant, un beau parc ombragé avec piscine en position ensoleillée parmi les oliviers.
Cette propriété est conseillée à qui recherche et apprécie l’atmosphère des anciennes demeures « vécues ».
Distances : arrêt de bus pour Sienne à 1km, magasin alimentaire, bar, restaurant et journaux à 1,50km, magasins variés, gare ferroviaire et tennis à 3,50km, le centre de Sienne à 4km, Radda in Chianti à 25km, Gaiole in Chianti à 30km, San Gimignano à 43km, Volterra à 60km, Florence (aéroport) à 75km, Pise (aéroport) à 135km, Lucques à 145km, Rome (aéroport) à 250km.

The apartment is difficult to access. It was not especially clean. Many things needed repair - door handles etc. The kitchen area is badly laid out and difficult to use. The fridge had not been defrosted for years and therefore did not function well. There was 6-year old food in one of the cupboards. The owner does not seem to be very interested in his guests - he took 3 hours to react when informed that there was no electricity after a storm. The access road as given in the instructions is atrocious.

The place was like a dream. The landscape is so beautiful, the accommodations are perfect, complete with an adequate bathroom, a large comfy bedroom with tons of natural light, and a wonderful kitchen/living/dining room. The kitchen includes a small refrigerator, a toaster oven, and cutlery, dishes, etc. our host was charming and friendly without being overbearing. He gave us a bottle of wine on our arrival from a local vineyard. The locale is a beautiful olive farm, and he kindly shared with us a small tin of his handmade olive oil, perhaps our favorite souvenir from our entire trip to Italy. This felt like an extra generous gesture that perhaps can't be expected by every guest but we had a wonderful, long conversation with him about his farm, his life in Italy, Europe, American politics, and Italian lifestyle. He was perfectly happy to chat in English. Just a kind, unassuming, accommodating soul we were thrilled to get to know. He shared with us a very helpful map and recommended a route for us to drive through Tuscany to hit the most beautiful towns and avoid highways in favor of more a picturesque route. Driving this route and coming home to our beautiful villa in Siena was the highlight of the entire trip for me.
A little more about the accomidations: we visited in mid May and the pool wasn't open yet, but he recommended a hot springs close by. Honestly we didn't have time to swim anyway. But the pool is there and I assume he opens it later than mid may. There are delightful kitties about that keep to themselves. Our accommodation itself is a freestanding house, but it's not clear that every accommodation at this property is that way. The location is ideal; very convenient to Siena but truly feels like the countryside and the middle of nowhere. Absolutely the best place we stayed our entire trip; totally worth the cost.

Jacobe was a wonderful host for our stay at the villa and gave us suggestions for a great sight seeing trip. We had a lovely view and enjoyed the swimming pool. The apartment was not what we had originally reserved but we enjoyed it very much and had a most relaxing time thanks to Jacobe.
